Hello!
My name is Rose and I'm an international student here in the USA. I have been away from my family and my country, Venezuela, for 7 years now.
My parents stayed in Venezuela because they feel called to serve the church of God and his people in my hometown, Caracas. My dad has been serving as the pastor of our church https://www.instagram.com/iglesia_ibe/ And since the pandemic started he has been serving with a cycling ministry. Since they couldn't meet inside the church building, they were trying to stay in community, keeping the church alive. https://www.instagram.com/pedaleandoypredicando/
My dad is also a lawyer and has to use public transportation and go to different offices, like the civil registry office and courts, to earn money to survive in Venezuela.
The situation in Venezuela has been terrible, in every aspect, for over 7 years now, but the economic crisis is harder every day. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-36319877
The hyperinflation is too crazy to even keep track of what the value of the currency is anymore. Because of this the whole country has resorted to a US-dollar-run-economy system. Everything is paid through Zelle transactions or dollar bills (whoever has them). https://ftn.media/venezuela-will-deepen-its-implicit-dollarization-2021
On top of the already terrible crisis, COVID cases are rising everyday. The desperation of people who are sick, or have an infected family member, combined with the economic crisis is the mix that's causing so much abuse in prices of any medical treatment, especially oxygen. Oxygen tanks and the refills are insanely expensive. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-4/coronavirus-venezuela
As an international student I can only work part-time, and I'm responsible for paying all my bills myself, because my parents cannot afford to help me with the situation they are living in Venezuela. Also as my graduation date is approaching I will very likely lose my job soon. I'm applying for a TPS and that will hopefully allow me to work, but I will very likely be without a job for 3 months while I get all my paperwork sorted out. The legal process for a TPS and a work permit also require me to pay certain fees to be eligible for that benefit. Overall, right now, I'm in a situation personally, and financially, where I cannot support my family, especially not with a hospital bill.

On March 6th, my birthday, my dad started feeling feverish, and was suspecting he had COVID-19. On March 10th my parents called me to confirm that he had all the covid symptoms, especially very high fever. I was very scared because my dad has a heart condition, and my mom suffers from asthma, so we were afraid she would get it too. Miraculously, my mom didn't get sick, but my dad's condition was very concerning.
We had a doctor visiting their home everyday for about a week, giving him treatment and controlling his condition. He had some x-rays done and while he seemed to be improving, the doctors noticed his heart was bigger than normal and had to prescribe medicine for that as well.
All of these expenses were already tough enough to cover but it was doable, until, two weeks and 4 days later, after he was doing better and seemed to have recovered from COVID-19. His lungs were really affected by the virus, and were really weak afterwards, so when he was coughing too hard on Saturday March 27th he hurt his lung badly.
On Sunday March 28th My dad has to go to the hospital. He had a punctured lung, and air was leaking into it. At the hospital had to perform a surgery on him to get a tube inside of him to remove the excess air around the lung. After the surgery, he was hospitalized and on oxygen until Monday April 5th.
They were supposed to release him, on Saturday April 3rd but they did tests on him and his lung was still not fully recovered, so they left him hospitalized for observation. On Monday April 5th they did more tests on him and finally let him go home but had to purchase an oxygen tank, and refill it, to take home with him. The doctors told him he needs to be on oxygen for 15 more day to recover. This will require multiple refills, which are really expensive.

We owe $6,500 for the 8 days he was hospitalized, for the cardiologist, both the covid treatment and the heart treatment, the surgery, all the tests and x-rays, and the oxygen he was given at the hospital.
The other $1,500 would be for the oxygen tank, and for the expenses of the refill, for the 15days he would need this at home.
Any amount helps! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
WE ARE TRUSTING GOD, HE HAS PROVIDED FOR US SO FAR HE NEVER LEAVES US OR FORSAKES US!
