Carrie Wegreen Medical Fund

Last July Carrie was hiking with a group of friends in Norman Wells, NWT.  She was about to begin a job as a welder's helper the following day.  While on this hike, she slipped and fell off of a dry waterfall onto the rocks below.  She sustained many injuries, it was a miracle she didn't die on impact.  Broken were her eye socket, ankles, feet, knee cap, and jaw in three places, she also suffered a severe concussion.  Luckily the friends she was hiking with were able to call for help, she had to be air lifted out of the area by helicopter to Yellowknife and later had to be flown to Edmonton. 
Since the accident she has undergone many surguries on her knees, feet and jaw.  For months she spent her days in a wheelchair, later walking with a walker and is now finally able to walk on her own again, but still suffers with much pain and discomfort, as well as mobility issues.  She is still unable to return to work and is making routine trips to see physiotherapists and doctors in Edmonton, Dawson Creek and Grande Prairie.  During this time of recovery she received a number of medi-vac/airlift bills totaling $30,000.00.  She has since been notified by the government that there will be no financial aid. 
So it is with this in mind that I will be putting on a fundraiser event for Carrie to help cover the costs of these bills.  The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the E.E.Oliver school gymnasium, and will be a Dine and Dance type event with a catered dinner, live music and entertainment by local artists.  Doors will open at 6:00pm, the event will begin at 6:30pm.  Tickets to the event are available at the Jewelry Box in Fairview, or the Fairview Public Library.  $30.00/person.
