Deputy Carlos Francies memorial
Donation protected
On 12-13-11, Carlos Francies joined the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. Carlos worked in a variety of assignments to include, Court Security and the Custody Division at both the West County Detention Facility and his most recent assignment at the Martinez Detention Facility. In addition to these assignments, Carlos was a valued member on the departments S.E.R.T. Team.
Carlos' Law Enforcement career ended on 8-13-15, when he made the ultimate sacrifice by placing his own life on the line to help someone else in need. On the afternoon of that fateful day, Carlos jumped into the deep waters of Lake Tahoe to assist a friend who he thought was drowning. Carlos began to swim to his friends aide, but started to struggle himself. Carlos fell unconscious and was pulled from the water. Life saving efforts were attempted, but Carlos succumbed to drowning.
In a message from Sheriff David O. Livingston;
"Today we we lost a dedicated Deputy Sheriff and member of our family. Deputy Carlos Francies died doing what he was sworn to do: putting himself in harm's way to protect the lives of others. He is a hero and an example of exactly what is right in law enforcement today."
Prior to his Law Enforcement career, Carlos played football at Sacramento State and Humbolt and coached youth football at Del Campo High. "Diamond" as they called him, was well known and loved on and off the field and will be deeply missed.
Carlos' life was cut short too soon and unexpectedly at the young age of 30. He was loved and respected by everyone around him and he will be truly missed.
This fundraiser page was developed to help his family with burial costs and whatever they need to get through this difficult time.
