help save a life

My name is Ty Whiddon and I want you to meet my mom. Her name is Pam (sometimes we call her Pamella or Black betty bam-a-lam if you know the old rock song!!)
She loves living life and helping others. She devotes most of her free time to her homeless feeding ministry and her family. She absolutely  loves God, church, playing the piano, singing, her family, acting crazy and most of all, helping others.

Here is a little about their daily lives. She and my dad feed “her people” every Monday. They prepare 40-60 meals each week and feed the local homeless. She also takes food to her church to be distributed to those in need. Each week she makes multiple runs to pick up food from different food banks that donate and local grocery stores that also contribute. She cooks all these meals right there in their small apartment.
Most of you don't know (and she doesn't tell everybody) that she has been disabled for 13 years. She suffered from stage 4 breast cancer and underwent multiple surgeries, chemo and radiation. She fought hard for her life and never complained one bit. She didn't feel like God was finished with her and still had work to do. Well, the story doesn't end there. My dad has also been disabled for over 25 years. He suffered a brain injury in 1997 that almost took his life. Doctors told us that he'd never live through it; if he did, he'd be a vegtable. God kept him alive and he recovered (almost). He suffers from memory loss, and his short-term memory is gone. He cannot remember any day to activities or even his grandkids' names. He lost his job and just about everything they had at the time. That didn't slow them down. They didn't miss a beat. They survived and have continued to help others even in their dismal situation. They are both on disability and have a very limited income.

We just found out 2 months ago that after 13 years of cancer-free, cancer has returned. This time she was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. Doctors wouldn't even start the chemo until she paid them $1600. She has started her chemo treatments to try and help with the cancer. We are praying and trusting God as well as the doctors. We believe God has blessed doctors with knowledge. She has continued to serve others and feed "her people" as she calls them. She still picks up food and cooks for 40-60 people weekly.
I have never met someone with such resolve and commitment to helping others as my mom. My dad is always there carrying stuff for her, getting plates and helping pass them out (even though he doesn't remember why). She stays true and vital to what she feels God has called her to do: serving others. She gets upset if she can't help for one week.

What she will not do: is ask for pity or help. What she doesn't want is for anyone to feel sorry for her. She loves her life. She loves serving, but she needs help. They need help. Her chemo cost each week is close to $1,000. We have been helping them by cooking for them, helping will bills, and praying with and for them. We will continue to support them every day. She has no idea I am asking for help.

Anyone that has ever watched their loved one suffer with cancer knows how hard it is. I know times are hard, money is tight, gas is expensive, and people are suffering all over. Most of the time, it takes everything you make just to pay the bills and stay afloat. Trust me, I know. However, I do know that God is real, and he will provide. Money is out there. Someone will read this and God will move on their heart to help. Please pray for our family as we all push forward. We will not stop, we will not give up, and we will keep fighting. We appreciate your support. We need prayers the most right now.
