My best friends and his family went through two unbelievable events. January 12th as he went to check on his two month old newborns napping he found that one of the twin newborns was blue in the face. My friend is a Police Officer and He said "I have seen dead people and I promise my son was gone." He then picked him up and performed CPR and told his wife to call the ambulance. He said his eyes fluttered slightly but he wasn't completely coherent. After he was rushed to the hospital they eventually stabilized him. The next day he explained that the twin had a Rotavirus (sp) and it interfered with his breathing. He also had an additional piece of something that covers the lungs that's supposed to raise up when he breathes but do to his small size he's doesn't have enough strength to naturally do this. Therefore he had to have two surgeries to help him breathe. Currently their baby boy is still in the hospital, but with prayer he will get stronger.
Last night January 31st I received a call informing me that his house had caught fire and is now condemned! He began to tell me the story and I could tell he was emotionally disturbed, he actually stated he was going to try not to be emotional because he needed to stay strong for his family.
The family was upstairs in the kitchen and he began to smell smoke. He went downstairs and to his surprise the circuit breaker box was on fire. He ran upstairs and yelled for everyone to get out! He has a large family 5 boys and newborn twins. After he got everyone out of the house he returned to the basement to try and put out the fire. He explained that the circuit breakers began to pop loudly but he wanted to do everything possible to prevent the home from burning down.
Unfortunately he was unable to put out the fire and eventually the fire department arrived and put out the fire. No one was injured in the fire but unfortunately the home was condemned. Due to them not having rental insurance they truly do not have a home to live in. He then told me the part that hurt him the most was when he returned to the car to make sure everyone was safe his family was crying and in tears.
His son said "Dad why did you go back inside, you could have been hurt?"
He responded in what I would call his Police type manner "Boys this is what I do, I try to stop dangerous thing from happening. It's my job."
His son then said "Well then your job is stupid!"
Given the loss of their home and mounting hospital bills we are asking to please contribute anything that you can. I personally have never setup a GoFundme page, but what I do know is that this family is everything good. They are loving caring, honest, God fearing, and will do anything for others. As a best friend, I couldn't ask for a wiser friend, he gives me counsel (despite him being younger than I). He's mentally strong, a tremendous Father, and has the respect of so many in his community and beyond.
Please give what you can afford and know that this is a just cause.
Thank you
