Hi, my name is Payton Fay and this is my story.

Epilepsy is horrible what can I say.. It’s been 7 years since I’ve been diagnosed, 11 different medications and none got rid of my seizures. I cannot count how many ambulance rides I’ve had at this point. I have had 3 out of 4 brain surgeries so far to try and get rid of my seizures permanently. During the first surgeries, I went to Stony Brook Hospital and they put drilled electrodes into my skull to determine what part of the brain is causing me to have seizures. I spent my Christmas of 2022 riding in pain. This next surgery is called a craniotomy. They have determined where in the brain my seizures are coming from and will be taking it out. From there, I may have to do some rehabilitation. I am not in school as I have been trying to work on my health before focusing on my career. I am only 20 years old and I am hopeful for the future. After my surgeries are complete, I hope to enroll in college and earn my degree. But right now I’m worried about living as I need to pay my medical bills, rent, all while blowing through my savings. I am doing this on my own with support from friends.
