Hello, I am a single mom who usually refuses to ever ask for help. But I’ve put my pride aside knowing how much my little family needs help. We are deeply saddened with having our hearts ripped out on Boxing day. My son went on Dec 23/25 for his usual lumbar puncture/ spinal tap that he has had many of to check for cancer. But this time totally took the wind out of us the bomb dropped. We got told his cancer had returned in his spinal fluid ( acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, also known as ALL) Payton was doing so very well he was doing all his old hobbies hunting fishing and riding his four Wheeler. He had registered for college and was accepted. He was to start Jan 5/26 and looking forward to finally having a life after almost 2 years of having his young life put on hold. It wasn't bad enough that the first go around created Necrosis to his joints and he needs a hip replacement done he also has a fractured elbow. His bones and joints are very weak and brittle. He was on maintenance program and aiming for June to have his left hip replaced (at 20 years old) It is now postponed till after his stem cell transplant. They told him he will eventually have to have his right hip and knees done as well. But right now with his left hip joint collapsed he uses a cane for very short distance to get around house. He is also using a walker to get around house and for doctors trips and longer trip he is using a wheel chair. He is getting worse as time goes on and the longer the wait for his hip replacement it’s gonna be that he can’t even walk. He will be getting brain and full body radiation this time around. So we can only imagine how this will affect his mobility. They cannot do hip replacement while hes getting chemo and radiation. So it’s gonna be some time before he can get that done. He will be using the wheel chair to get in and out of the house. We have several appointments and hospital stays in Kingston, Ottawa and Toronto. We will be moving to Ottawa for 4 months to do a stem cell transplant. The extra cost in gas medication, transportation, food and , parking will be so financially hard on this single mom. I will also have to have a wheelchair ramp built for Payton to get in and out of the house when he comes home. I also had to pull Payton’s little brother out of school to come with us. So I will have to help him with his school work ontop of caring for Payton. If you could help this family out in any way in such a difficult time it will be more than greatly appreciated. The stress of going through this is bad enough, worrying about finance does not help. Having one income cut in half is a real challenge for a single mom. We thank everyone for your support. ❤️
