Hello everybody! My name is Taylor Colburn-Coryell and I am helping raise money and support for my niece, Payson Wilson. Payson is six-years-old and When she was a a bit younger she was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. Her family calls her their unicorn because it is so rare- no one in the US even has it! The kidney disease attacks her kidneys but thankfully the doctors have found a combination of medications that suppress her immune system so her immune system does not attack her kidneys. Kind of confusing, right? That is sort of the problem because it has been a challenge finding a specialist who can help her with her condition.
Since Payson has a suppressed immune system she had a fever back in 2019 that sent her to the hospital and nothing came of it until her condition continued to questionably worsen. Since then P is fatigued, has lost her balance and her motor skills have decreased. She is no longer able to walk on her own, and her verbal skills are not so great either. All of this to say, beautiful Payson is comforted by animals and loves petting and snuggling with them. Payson is constantly in and out of the doctors offices, physical therapists and speech therapists as well.
This is a little bit of background to young Payson and why we are trying to raise money to get a service dog but now it has turned into a bit more. The Wilson family has scheduled a trip to Philadelphia where they will meet with a doctor who specializes in white matter disease
and can hopefully give the family some more insight into her condition. The condition Payson has is the sort of diagnosis where it hasn't been seen before so there is not any sort of assistance for their family. I want to come together as a community and raise a bit of money to get Payson a service dog to help with her disabilities, give her a companion, but also give the Wilson family some support during this challenging time.
You can follow Payson’s story on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/payson.wilson.2016
And there are more ways to contribute, such as through venmo
Or through Selco Community Credit Union under Payson Medical Fund
