Paying tribute to Sopheap Chan - memorial service

Donation protected
To our friends & family,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving grandmother Sopheap Chan. Some of you may or may not know, but in December of 2020 my grandma tested positive for covid. It attacked her respiratory system and left her lungs extremely damaged. She has been fighting for the last 11 months, from being in and out of the hospital to nursing facilities. On November 3rd 2021 with her family bedside, she took her last breath.

My grandma was a woman that wore many hats; she spoke 3 different languages - Khmer, Vietnamese, and Chinese. My grandma was a full time chef and part time Gardner. She was the epitome of hard work; she stands for the grind, the hustle, and working til your ‘wind breaks’. My grandma is exactly the type of grandma that will feed you at any cost. She was so independent she always had us drop her off on Anaheim St. and insisted she would take the bus home. My grandma was fearless, fiery and had the strongest soul. She was a ‘srah thnam’ connoisseur (she swore by it) and made the best homemade kathieu. Like many, she was a survivor of the Cambodian Genocide that took the lives of millions of Cambodians. She was separated from her family and fled the country with just my mom, leaving 2 of her kids behind. My grandma lived a hard life, she had to endure so many tragic events in her lifetime - that I can’t put into words to describe; which is why she’s such a fighter. She was the true meaning of tough love (but we know she had the biggest heart). My grandma is on her journey to heaven and during this difficult time, we are kindly asking for donations to help lay her to rest peacefully. No amount is too small and anything contributed is greatly appreciated. On behalf of our family, we would like to thank you all in advance during this tough time.
