My name is Sally Arevalo, I am Sara's mother-in-law. On May 25th, 2022, my son, John, had to make the difficult decision to take his wife, Sara, off of life support. Sara vigilantly fought sarcoma cancer which metastasized into spindle cell sarcoma of the lungs for over 6 years. Sara never thought she could not beat cancer because she had her two daughters, Gracie (13 years old) and Maddie (9 years old), and John to fight for. During this time, Sara would not allow anyone to talk about funeral arrangements because she felt this would bring negativity into her life. Unfortunately, Sara lost her battle, and John was left with the task of planning her funeral.
We have gotten messages from friends and family regarding how to support John, Gracie, and Maddie at this time. A few have suggested creating this GoFundMe fundraiser, which is why we have done this. If you would like to contribute, John, Gracie, and Maddie would benefit from this.
I have attached John's message to everyone when Sara passed:
"It’s with a heavy heart I have to make this post. My wife Sara has been a rockstar and he one of the strongest fighters I know. She was first diagnosed with cancer back in 2014. I was absolutely terrified. The girls were 7 and 2 at the time. But she had this look and determination on her face and I knew she was going to put up a fight. She beat it!! She went through radiation and chemo and beat it!! She knew she could and we all were so proud of her!! But in 2018 it came back stronger yet that still didn’t stop her! She was going to do anything and everything she could to be there with her loved ones. She was going to fight this again. And she sure did. Every. Single. Day. For the past 8 years she fought this disease.
But today, I had to make one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. Heaven gained one of the strongest angels I know. The cancer became too much for her body to handle over the past couple months and at 11:37am Sara passed away. She wasn’t alone. She was surrounded by her loved ones. The amount of love and support she had was beyond what words can explain. Thank you everyone for reaching out. Thank you family and friends for being there for her, supporting her throughout this long, tiring battle.
Sara I’m so amazed by what you showed our girls. Your fight, your strength, your love and caring, I’m glad they got to see that. You never gave up!!! You were the BEST mom that I could have ever asked for, for our girls. You were the BEST aunt, daughter, grand daughter, sister and wife that anyone could have asked for.
Don’t worry beebee I got the girls. And we have so much support around us you’ll have nothing to worry about. I will miss you so much baby. I love you Sara more than you’ll ever know. Always and forever."
Thank you for donating or sharing this with others.
