Paying Tribute to Marcos Hernandez

Hello, we are asking for donations to help with financial stress caused by the passing and hospitalization of Marcos Hernandez. After battling COVID for 3 weeks, Marcos has passed away but leaves behind his wife, JoAnn, his two sons Jacob and Robert, and his stepchildren Jessica, Roger, Roman, and Rene.

Marcos Hernandez went to be with the Lord on, February 11, 2022, at the age of 50. Marcos was born on December 2, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas to Marcos Hernandez and Yolanda Solis. Marcos has reunited with his maternal grandparents, Alicia Solis and Jose Solis; paternal grandparents, Elias and Hortencia Hernandez, and nephew Mathew Nieto.

Marcos received his Bachelor's degree from Texas State University, and dedicated 14 years of service to NEISD. Marcos was also a coach of 25 plus years in football, basketball and track. With some students he had the honor of coaching that are now pro athletes in the NFL and NBA. Marcos was a Special Education teacher for grades K- 12. He was very compassionate, understanding and had a great deal of patience. On May 27, 1997 and January 25, 1999 he welcomed his two sons who were the most important part of his life. Marcos married JoAnn on April 18, 2020. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed family time, fishing, music and making everyone laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends students, staff and all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 3 years JoAnn Hernandez; children, Jacob Patrick Hernandez, Robert Anthony Hernandez, stepchildren, Roger Garza III, Jessica Garza, Roman Garza, Rene Castillo; sisters, Cynthia Nieto (Mike), Leticia Hernandez (Armando); nephew and niece Michael Hernandez, Ava Gonzales, and many friends and extended family members. Marcos is loved and will be missed by his many family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 200 from 5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Services conclude this evening.
