Paying tribute to Lewis Dilda and Serving Rita

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of Lew and the Dilda's,

I am writing to you today to let you know about the loss of Lewis Dilda.

We are absolutely devastated by Lew’s passing and are struggling and still in shock and yet rejoicing that he is no longer in pain. Thank you for helping us already hit our fundraising goal for the American Diabetes Association. In lieu of flowers, we would like to ask you to please consider supporting Rita Dilda financially in her time of need.

We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.

A Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Lewis Dilda
Lewis Ray Dilda of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on Saturday, September 11th, 2021, at the age of 74.

Lew was born in Washington, DC on September 24th, 1946, to father Marvin Lewis Dilda and mother Lessie Jewel Dilda. Lew is greatly missed by his loving wife, Rita; daughters, Rebecca Romero, Rachael Martin and son-in-love Gary Martin; granddaughters: Linda, Kayziah, Adrianna, Shanyah, Kemmilyn and Ana; great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Jupiter and Alexander; sister Sandra Dilda Thompson, brother-in-love Robert Thompson; nephews Gregory Thompson (wife Jennifer & children) and Michael Thompson (wife Sarah & children) and a whole boat load of cousins.

If you asked a hundred people who Lew was to them, they’d all give you a different answer.
  • The comedian of the family (he always had a joke to tell).
  • A skilled woodworker.
  • A great singer and worship leader including being a part of a traveling quartet.
  • Their Best Buddy.
  • The architect and designer/draftsman of the staircase in Union Station, among other landmarks in the Metro/DC area including the Washington Capital and the White House.
  • A follower of Jesus Christ.
  • A devoted husband and father and the greatest Pappy ever.

Lew was all of these and more. ♥

He was also a vivid storyteller. At any given moment he would engage his family and friends with stories, no matter the occasion. None of these stories though, were as important to him as The Gospel story of Jesus rescuing us from our sin and giving us hope of eternal life, followed closely by his favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
