Paying Tribute to Jonathan “Thon” Souvannalath

Donation protected

Dear family, friends, and anyone loved by Thon,

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our brother, son, and best friend, Jonathan. Thon passed away last night after a long 7-day battle on life support. He suffered a severe asthma attack that led to sudden respiratory/cardiac arrest. First responders administered CPR and were able to revive him on scene but unfortunately, Jonathan succumbed to severe brain injuries.

Thon was always busy — a man in constant motion — but never too busy to share his love of life with those around him. He taught us to love life and love the crazy but beautiful drama that surrounds it. He loved eating glazed donuts, and doing donuts in his car, and we believe he’ll still be burning rubber in heaven. He lived an exhilarating and fulfilled life and was never afraid to take risks... because what is life if we don’t?

Thon was always sharing. No matter how much money he had at the time he would never fail to ask if you ‘ wanted something.’ One time when he was a young boy traveling to Laos with his mom, he spotted a child wearing no shoes. Without hesitation, Jonathan took his own shoes from his feet to give to this child. Mom asks “why did you do that?” And he responds “because he had no shoes” and mom chuckles because now Jonathan has no shoes.

We love you Thon and we can’t say it enough. And we love the fact that even though you only have ‘one’ of something in your possession you are still giving it away to others. Your liver, kidneys, blood, and especially your big heart was the greatest gift for those that need it the most. The average wait time for a kidney is 3-5 years. So to know that there’s a family out there that has been waiting that long for a miracle that was fulfilled earlier today is incredible. Your beautiful soul and your lively spirit will live on through the people you touched. Your love and kindness is deeper than any ocean and spreads wider than the universe.

This is not a goodbye but a “See ya later foo!”

This is a sudden, tragic, and devastating loss we all face. Words can not describe the emotions and feelings felt upon these days of true sadness.
Thon was loved and will be missed by many. We created this fund to pay tribute to him in which 100% of the proceeds will go towards his funeral and final medical expenses. As our family struggles to cope with this loss, your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated and your thoughts and prayers brings warmth to our hearts.
