Paying Tribute to Jamila McNeil
Before I get into this, let me just say...DAMN MAN. I have been saying this since we got the initial call. This one hit us hard. Growing up, when you saw one of us, you saw all of us. We were so close that no one believed I was their aunt. I stopped correcting y’all when y’all asked for my sisters and brothers! Lol... But DAMN. This is going to be a hard question to answer because now a part of us is missing.
McNeil/Solomon Crew For Life
My name is Brittaney Solomon, I am one of Jamila's aunts. Jamila, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2020. This loss has deeply saddened our family, especially her beautiful 11 year old daughter, Jayla (aka Mah Chocolate). It has taken everyone by surprise. Due to other circumstances, this has had a great impact along with COVID19 on our family and leaves us short with what we are able to afford at this time.
Anyone who knew Jamila, knew she was a great sister, mother, grand-daughter, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. Jamila was a dedicated, hard worker, caring and selfless person. She loved her family very much and always tried her best to love and support Jayla along with everyone else for whom she truly cared. We are at a loss for words.
We wanted to start a GoFundMe with a goal of $12,000 to be able to give Jamila a proper burial so that she can be with Debbie (her mom), and her great-grandmother. Any donation will be greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. Please know that any monies collected will be used for that purpose and if any remaining will be placed in an account for Jayla.
