Paying Tribute to Hanibal G.
Donation protected
To our beloved community of family and friends,
On November 30, 2021, our beloved son, brother, nephew, and dear friend Hanibal Gebremedhin was unexpectedly called home to Heaven. Although we can never accept the suddenty of his departure, we can come together to find comfort in knowing that he is now in a better place.
Family and friends, the high cost of funeral services can be a huge point of stress for many who have just lost a loved one. We are asking for your generosity and support during this time. Please help us bless Hanibal's family, so they can grieve the loss of their son without having to worry about these expenses.
We thank you in advance.
In Loving Memory of Hanibal Yemane Gebremedhin
August 31, 1987 - November 30, 2021
“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. John 11:25-26
Hanibal Gebremedhin was born on August 31, 1987, in Khartoum, Sudan, before immigrating to Portland, Oregon, at the age of 4. Hanibal is survived by his mother Saba Yonas, his father Yemane Gebremedhin, his aunt (and second mother) Ghenet Gebrehiwet, his brother Eyob Fissehaye.
Hanibal was a kindhearted and incredible individual who adored and cherished his family. Those who knew Hanibal will often remember him for both his innate charm and eternal optimism. He leaves a massive hole in the hearts of his family and friends, who were constantly entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. He truly brought life to the party. He was beloved by everyone who ever met him; no matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Hanibal did while you were with him.
Hanibal was a natural athlete and a gifted student. He attended Benson Polytechnic High School, where he graduated in 2005 as a two-sport athlete in soccer and baseball before accepting an academic scholarship to attend the University of Oregon. In 2010, Hanibal graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and ethnic studies with a minor in business administration.
While our community grieves heavily, we can find peace in knowing that one day again we will meet, but until then, his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as those he has touched but never met.
Forever in our minds and hearts, Rest in Peace.
