Paying Tribute to Denis Abrams
Donation protected
Living life to its fullest does not always mean you get to live the longest life. Denis Abrams proved that to us this past Wednesday when he left this earth surrounded by his family to join God and those waiting for him in heaven.
Denis was a family man who protected and served his community as a man of the law. He spent 20 years as a Police Officer then ended his career as a Sheriff’s Deputy for 8 years. He was a man of God who took every opportunity to share God’s love with anyone and everyone.
Everyone looked up to Denis, literally. He was the leader of the Abrams’ clan and was the family’s superhero. He lived with strength, knowledge, love, loyalty, pride, honor, and most importantly God. Family was everything to Denis. His wife, four daughters, and nine grandchildren were the light of his life and sparkle in his eyes.
In July of 2022, Denis was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Omentum Cancer. Being only the 43rd person in the world to have this cancer, there was little knowledge about this diagnosis and he was given 8 weeks to live.
With the love and care of his wife and his faith in God, he battled for 10 months. During those 10 months, Denis enjoyed time with his family and friends, attended hockey games, visited his favorite restaurant, spent as much time as possible with loved ones, and walked his youngest daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.
Denis spent his final weekend in the white mountains with his family creating more memories, enjoying lots of laughter, cooking spaghetti dinner for everyone, and simply spending time with those who loved him.
Even though his family knew their time with him was limited, his sudden and very quick decline left his family unprepared for his passing. As a close friend of the family, I know they would never ask for help or a GoFundMe. However, some of you may know the costs associated with losing a loved one and I can only imagine the added financial pressure of cancer treatment.
Denis' family wants to give him the services and memorial he deserves. One that shows how much he was loved and admired, and how much he will be thought of and missed. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help cover the cost of the burial, funeral, memorial, outstanding medical expenses, and help keep his wife on her feet while she navigates the loss of her husband.
Denis’s wife, Pat, was a nurse at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH. She dedicated over 40 years of her life to caring for those in need until she recently retired. The care for others switched from the Monadnock region community to caring for her husband. They had planned to enjoy retirement together, and now she is having to do the unimaginable. Denis and Pat dedicated decades to serving and caring for those in the community, and it is our turn to show them it did not go unnoticed.
Please keep Denis’ family in your prayers and donate what you can. No amount is too small, and every donation and repost of this GoFundMe is much appreciated. If you prefer to make a personal or direct donation, please send me a message through GoFundMe.
Information regarding Denis’ memorial services will be shared at a later date. Thank you all for your continued love and support.
