Paying Tribute to Darren
Donation protected
We are absolutely devastated by Darren's passing and are struggling to find the words to express how we are all feeling.
You may know Darren from his dedication to Little League and El Segundo sports in general. Darren worked with many teams and served on the ESLL board for many years. He was a coach for over seven years, with over a hundred kids playing for him. To say that Darren helped influence the growth of these boys on and off the field is an understatement. As Darren and his many coaching friends would say, "A good Coach can make his players see what they can be rather than what they are." Now, most of those boys are young men, and there is no doubt that Darren's impact will stay with them forever.
You may also know Darren from his decades working at American Airlines. Starting in the early 1990s, Darren worked hard at his job and helped serve his colleagues as a young union rep and steward. It didn't take long for him to earn the respect of the members and leaders. As a union rep and crew chief, he brought integrity and commitment to his role. To quote his friend and colleague, Andrew Sutton (President - TWU Local 502), " We will all be devastated by this loss for some time to come, but Darren did leave us with a blueprint on how to live, love, listen and care for on another."
We would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge Darren's dedication as a husband and father. There isn't a thing he wouldn't have done for his son Cooper. He took pride in watching him play sports and watching Cooper grow into a young man. He knew Cooper had a very bright future ahead of him. Ashley and Darren have been married for 20 years and made their mark on their community. They could be counted on to lend a helping hand to their neighbors. Their home was always a haven for kids in town to hang out and feel welcome.
We have started this fundraiser to collect donations for Darren’s funeral services and to help Ashley and Cooper over the next several months as they navigate their new normal.
Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.
