On behalf of the Melville Family, it's with a heavy heart and deepest regrets, we announce Daisy Elizabeth Villatoro-Melville, a precious daughter, cherished sister, devoted mother, and beloved wife has passed away after her battle with cancer on February 20, 2021. We are asking the community to come together to support Daisy's family through this profound loss. The Melville family has had their lives changed forever. Her strong will and determination, coupled with her strong faith in God, allowed her to battle beyond experts' predictions.
Please join us in remembering such a fearless woman and her testimony.
Five years ago, James noticed something was wrong with Daisy. After getting a biopsy, they received the phone call that everyone dreads Daisy was diagnosed with cancer. The family was devastated but hoped it was early enough to be dealt with surgically. They sought a second opinion at Memorial Sloan Kettering, since the first doctor informed them she could have six months to live. Shortly after her appointment at Sloan, they were told the cancer spread, and Daisy had Stage 4 cancer.
It had spread to multiple parts of her body. Through the next five years that followed, the Melville's had entirely given themselves and found refuge in God, leaving everything in His hands. In many instances, Daisy was healed to the point that cancer was not detectible in her body.
During the past five years, Daisy has battled cancer in her left breast, right breast, all lymph nodes, bladder, liver, behind both eyes, and her entire brain and spine. She received different forms of chemotherapy and multiple rounds of radiation on her brain, eyes, and breasts. James has been by his wife's side throughout it all, attending all her treatments and sacrificing many events. Always staying true to Daisy's preference to battle this as privately as possible, James took an oath to keep this battle between them and states he would do it all over again. Daisy's testimony is vast and could not be truly represented in the body of this text, and maybe one day James can give you all the full power of her testimony; so that it may be a testament to the love God has for all of us.
Daisy survived by her two wonderful children James (age 9) and Isabella (age 7), who were truly influenced by their mothers' guidance, strength, and love for God at such a young age. Daisy loved her children more than life itself. Her husband, James, also survives Daisy. James's life was changed since the day they met Daisy in 2005, becoming his best friend, true love, and the most significant thing that has ever happened to him. James has vowed to continue with the work that Daisy began, representing her in all aspects of his life and their children's lives. Daisy will be remembered forever, and the testimony of her joy for the Lord is our strength and will change lives and bring God's children home for years to come. Daisy and her life story are now eternal, and God has his Daughter in his loving arms.
Thank you all for the tremendous outpour of love and support! God bless you all.
