Paying Off Max's Vet Bill Fund

Donation protected

UPDATE 8/26/21:

Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for your generosity! It made this past year a lot easier. While we had several months of great health with Max, he sadly recently slid backwards and while we're getting more testing done, it appears he may also have a heart issue. This has added a significant amount onto our vet tab just in testing alone (not even treatment, yet!), and I've updated the goal accordingly.

I know times are still tough for many of you out there, so please do not feel obligated, but if you're able, we would again appreciate any help can give. We wish you all the best.

ORIGINAL POST:

Hi everyone,

Recently, Maximus went through a really rough ordeal in which we discovered he has IBD. He exhibited all the typical signs of it on a Tuesday night, including lethargy and laying on his side, not moving, and not eating (which is a scary thing for a pet to do!). As a result we rushed him to PETS and started running multiple tests to ensure that IBD was the cause and not something worse. Thankfully, he came through it fine (he was a champ the whole way), despite at times seeming worse in the veterinary hospital due to the due stressful environment.

Some additional tests that were done were:

- An ultrasound to ensure he didn't have lymphoma.
- Barium/radiograph to ensure he didn't have a hiatal hernia.

It was really tough on Jenny as Maximus is her world, he's been with her for 15 straight years and is genuinely one of the nicest and most well-behaved cats I've ever met.

We were able to place the entire bill on a CareCredit card, so that we didn't have to empty our bank accounts that week. However, we do need to pay it off within 6 months (first payment is due Feb 11th, and we can do that one easily thanks to the generosity of our closest friends). At that rate we will need to pay roughly $716 per month to pay off the bill before the 26.99% interest rate kicks in. All we want to do is be able to take a big enough chunk out of this bill so that the interest rate combined with the monthly payments doesn't decimate our finances. One of those 6 months both Jenny and I will have a "three paycheck month" so we are counting on that income to help wrap this bill up, but any generosity from you will make it an easier time. Thanks in advance!

Alright, disclaimer, though: things are really tight right now for everyone, so: don't you dare give to this unless you're comfortable enough to do so. We're doing ok in the grand scheme (although a $4300 bill is always scary, etc), but for serious: don't give to us unless you're able to do so comfortably. We appreciate any help or sharing you can do!
