Paying for Physical Therapy for Casey
Donation protected
In December of 2020 Casey started noticing that something was wrong. After a long road and many doctors appointments, Casey was diagnosed with Adult-onset leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia in October of 2021. This led to a trip to the Mayo Clinic in Florida, and an extended stay at Stanford, where Casey got a bone marrow transplant. For months, she was isolated from her children, friends and community. She has worked so hard for countless hours to build back her strength. Because of insurance, she was bounced from facility to facility, until she finally came home on September 30th 2022. At which time insurance said they would only pay for a few hours of PT a week, and no other in home care.
Casey has been making such amazing improvements since coming home. Being home around her family and friends has led her to make leaps and bounds physically. Steve has been fighting with insurance since day one on how much physical therapy they will pay for. Steve just got notice from insurance that they are done paying for PT for Casey’s treatment.
Steve has been a single parent, working a full time job, fighting insurance for care for his wife, renting accessible vehicles to move Casey efficiently and hiring in home care for Casey. Insurance continues to pay for less and less of Casey’s treatment.
Steve and Casey have such a huge support system who want to pour love into them. Please consider donating to this campaign to help with ongoing treatment for Casey and remove some of the financial burden on the Lauder Family.
