8 year old Haitian Fabienne (we are using a fake name to protect her anonymity) just underwent corrective surgery at Hospital Bernard Mevs for her congenital fistulas. I am fundraising to help her family pay for this life saving operation. We are so happy that the surgery went well and Fabienne is healthy.
Congenital fistulas is a rare condition that means Fabienne's lower intestine was connected to her vaginal wall, causing problems with passing stool. She underwent a surgery when she was younger to bypass the issue with a colonoscopy bag. However, this was not a long term solution, as Fabienne had frequent life-threatening infections.
This recent operation attached her intestine to her rectum, allowing her to pass stool normally and ensuring she is no longer at risk of developing bacterial infections once healed.
Unfortunately, Fabienne's family had to sell their cattle and a good portion of their land for the colonoscopy surgery, leaving them unable to afford this corrective operation.
I know Fabienne through my dads work with her community. He has been supporting local Haitian's ideas for job creation for the last 8 years. Fabienne's grandfather owns the land where they are beginning to build a fish farm.
Your donations will go to paying for this life-saving surgery so that Fabienne and her family can focus on healing. Thank you for considering giving!
