Pay toward Emma’s surgery

Meet Emma, the world’s friendliest Rottweiler. We rescued Emma in early 2019. Up until then she was a shelter dog. Her time had run out at a kill shelter in Southern California, when she was saved by GEDPA Rottweiler rescue in San Martin, CA. While there, she survived a building fire. Although she was placed in a home shortly after the fire, it wasn’t working out and they wanted to return her.

I volunteered to pick her up from the new owner and foster her. Today she still remains a loved member of our household. And always will be.

At just over a year old, she was not housebroken, she did not know how to walk on leash and she had a tremendous fear of strangers. Yet almost immediately we formed a bond.

Today, she is beyond all these things. We walk several miles daily. She is heavily socialized, also on a daily basic. She is very calm, friendly and well trained. On or off leash. She is always at my side. She gets along well with our other Rottweiler mix as well as our cat, who has no fear of dogs.

Last year a growth appeared between Emma’s gums and lower lip. Our vet removed it, but it returned in January of this year. Now the prognosis is much more serious. A mandibulectomy is recommended. This is removing part of the lower jaw. This is from a prominent local Veterinary Hospital by a board certified surgeon. The estimated cost is $6000-10,000. This amount does not include the $3000 already spent for chest X-rays, abdominal ultrasound, biopsy and blood work among other tests.
