Pay off rent from abusive household

Hi, my name is Halle and I recently had to move back in with my father after residing with an abusive roommate. Raising this money is important to me so I’m able to pay off the remainder of the rent and move forward in my life. My Ex roommate and I were very close friends for 6 years. Within these six years, they were incredibly manipulative and controlling over me. (My abuser uses they/them pronouns.) They were always abusive under my nose. I unfortunately failed to understand the severity of my relationship with them until a couple months ago after multiple events transpired. We had reached a disagreement regarding my significant other and how often she was able to stay over. They saw how happy I was with someone else, and started losing grasp of their control over me. When they realized this, they started lashing out. They started screaming and slamming doors in the house to the point of me begging them to calm down. They admitted the screaming was on purpose to take advantage of me, yet continued the behavior despite their knowledge of screaming being a personal trigger to me. They tried to ban my girlfriend from the house, and insinuate that she was bad news. I felt extremely unsafe in my house, and ended up staying with multiple different people over the span of a couple weeks. During this time, my roommate continued to send me unwanted messages after me explicitly asking them to not reach out to me, along with reaching out to my father. One evening I returned to my house with my girlfriend to sleep. My roommate was immediately angered when we entered the house, and followed us to my room while yelling things such as “are you fucking serious” and “she thinks she can do whatever she wants.”

I had to turn on the television to drown out their yelling. After this night I returned to sleeping other places temporarily. The few occasions that I did return to sleep at the house, my roommate would find something to become angry about. After avoiding them in fear, I finally decided I couldn’t live there anymore. The day I moved out, I brought multiple people with me. My roommate screamed at my family and I as moved my things. They called me a bitch, told me to suck a dick. They screamed at my girlfriend telling her that she ruined everything, after calling her a “little gremlin bitch.” They attempted to bring up mistakes that both I and my girlfriend made in our past in attempt to separate us, among much more. The authorities were called after my roommate refused to calm down. I’ve been moved out for a couple months now. After reaching out to my leasing agency, they are unfortunately unable to help me get off the lease. I am still tied to my abuser by contract, which has caused not just financial setback, but a great deal of emotional distress. As of recently, I returned to the house with people I trust to help me remove the remainder of my items left. When I entered my room, it was littered with trash. My personal belongings had been moved, and broken. This go fund me is being made in hopes of raising as much money as possible to pay off the remainder of my rent, and hopefully move forward with my life and mental health.
