Hi, I'm Anna. I'm 30 years old and in a bit of a bind.
Last May (2024) I was made redundant after 5 years working as a cafe chef and baker. It took much longer than I anticipated to get a new job, but I got there in September of 2024. In the meantime, I spent my redundancy (approx. £3000) on bills in the time it took me to find a new place of work.
Once I found work, everything was going ok, I had accrued credit card debt but I was able to pay as I went along. Then in November 2024, I took a fall and I fractured my right knee badly - it was considered major trauma, and once again I was out of work, and I still am in February 2025. Only now am I without crutches and doing physiotherapy, slowly being phased back into work. (I work nights at a supermarket, which is very physical moving cages and filling shelves)
I was able to have sickpay and holiday to push me along, but between Christmas, bills and weekly expenses, the credit card debt continued to mount.
So now I am in a real spot of bother, without an obvious (and interest free) way to make good on all that I owe. Not to mention the two vet bills that have come at the end of this month for my cat Bella, she is dealing with an infection.
All this to say, I am struggling. Mentally, financially and physically - I just want to get my life back on track and out of this hole I am desperate to not get deeper into.
Any help at all would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Anna
