Pay off Benicia school lunch debt
Donation protected
About 75% of public school districts report student school lunch debt at the end of each academic year. This is a growing problem — 40% of those districts had increases in their debt last year. California is one state that has laws prohibiting students from being shamed — publicly marked, or having to do chores to earn their lunch.
Here in Benicia, the annual school lunch debt averages $1000-$1500 per year. Not every family that could use some support qualifies for free & reduced meals. The remaining debt from last academic year (2018-19) is $1,109.74. If we rally together, we can help all the families in BUSD start the year without that hanging over their heads, and without kids having to worry about it.
Thanks for giving anything you can — every dollar helps!
