Hi there, my name is Carri and I am a licensed massage therapist and a sole proprietor. I have a successful practice I've been running for 12.5 years. I LOVE what I do!!!!
Last Monday, May 22, I went on a trail ride with some friends and my horse decided to become a bucking bronco...literally! I could sit out for 4 or 5 bucks, but he was determined to get me off and succeeded. My friend took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion (my memory was not intact for a couple of hours), a slight brain bleed, and a Roland Fracture of my right thumb. That means my metacarpal (base of my thumb) is broken into 3 pieces. I am having surgery on Friday, June 2, and am told that I will be off work for two to three months. After surgery, my thumb has to be immobile for 4-6 weeks and then I have to have physical therapy to be able to work with my thumb again.
I am in serious need of help. Being a sole proprietor and single, my income has come to a screeching halt! My savings was wiped out during tax time due to an inept accountant I hired in 2021, and what little savings I have left will be wiped out on the first of this month. I have 3 horses, 2 cats, a dog and myself to feed plus a car payment, rent, office rent, utility bills, board for my horses, etc. My 23-year-old lives with me, but has her own bills and what little is left over she has generously offered to share. I just need to get through the next three months. I feel very awkward asking for help, It's definitely very humbling for the very independent person I am. I have applied for temporary assistance, but it's nowhere near enough to get me through 2 weeks, let alone a whole month.
Any help would be appreciated more than words can ever express.
