Pay medical bills resulting from hit and run

Hi, my name is Matthew. December 10, 2023 I was hit by a vehicle while walking home. The vehicle continued on and left me for dead. Luckily another car came up on me probably within five minutes after being ran over and they called 911. I was life flighted, given two blood transfusions, and almost died. I broke my spine in two places L1 & T12, fractured multiple ribs on my left side, fractured pinky finger, Subdural hematoma (bleeding on my brain) and multiple bruises, lacerations, scrapes and cuts all about my body. I have lower extremity paralysis, and must learn to walk again. I am a proud, Navy veteran (Corpsman with Marines) and it has taken me a lot of thinking to come to this conclusion to start go fund me. The money raised will pay for further therapy first and foremost . It will also be used to pay for any daily living expenses, like food, housing costs, etc. I am currently not working and have no income. I will also use the money to pay back Family, who have already lovingly paid medical expenses not covered by insurance to help me. I am on Medicaid and I have VA. Neither of these insurances will pay to get my house ADA compliance so I can live there. Nor will they pay for upcoming prescriptions due to run out. I know for sure one of these will cost $103 to refill . I don’t want to run into an unexpected surprise. I am currently living with my brother in his living room, wheelchair bound (for the moment, I will walk again) sleeping in a hospital bed with a bedside bathroom chair. He has a full house and I just simply wish to gain my independence back. I do have an attorney working diligently to approve me disability income.
