Mich’s Broken Leg Needs Surgery Fund
Donation protected
It happened again, winter’s worst nightmare: slip on the ice and break a leg.
Even worse, like millions of uninsured Americans, Mich had just started a new job and was not yet eligible for health insurance. Now she needs a major surgery for a plate and screw to stabilize her femur and ankle (see pics for X-rays). She is applying for coverage but even if they agree to cover a pre-existing condition, those plans are very expensive and there will be many thousands of dollars in deductibles, copays, and other continuous expenses.
We don’t know yet how much Michelle’s surgery will cost, so we will update as more information is available. Let’s start with a goal of $10,000 to allow Mich to relax and focus on healing for the next 6 weeks. As her aunt and doctor, I will do anything to help her. She is a favorite Summit County bartender, working for years at Napper Tandys, Breckenridge Distillery and now RMU. Let's get her back on her feet!
If you’re also uninsured or are shopping for a new policy, check out the podcast on our fractured healthcare payment system: AN ARM AND A LEG. Horror stories and help understanding insurance, hospital charges, and how to get reasonable prices.
