Emanuel for Minnesota’s 8th U.S. Congressional District

My name is Emanuel (Manny), and I’m running for US Congress in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District.
I will be starting as a candidate in the 2026 Democratic Primary election.
I currently work for Bois Forte Band of Chippewa as an ICW case manager, and have lived on the Vermilion Reservation since October of 2022.
On most issues, I have strong and clear positions. We need to create public funding of elections so politicians are no longer forced to vote in a way that rigs things for the rich people who fund their campaigns, we need to tax billionaires and the very rich to fund programs like universal healthcare (so you don’t have to pay to go to the doctor), we need to raise the minimum wage to 17$ an hour for all large corporations, we need to have free public college and maybe even free private college and graduate school, and we need to try to move to cleaner and more long-term energy options. I also want to give indigenous tribes and tribal governments the opportunity to expand their influence off of the reservation, and give them the opportunity to make decisions on certain laws where they may have the most wisdom, like energy usage and land and resource conservation, for example.
On other issues, like gun-control, I have mixed feelings. In times like the one we live in now, I completely understand that people want to have guns to be able to defend themselves. At the same time though, it also makes sense to have stricter laws on who can buy a gun and what kinds of guns can be sold, because I do see lots of evidence that these sickly school shootings, along with other gun deaths, would be preventable if everyone did not have such easy access to things like automatic weapons.
On immigration, I understand how lots of people may feel uncomfortable or nervous about people from different cultures who speak different languages and look different than a lot of us coming to our nation in large numbers. That said, I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that pretty much all of the stuff about immigrants hurting the country is completely made up. Undocumented immigrants actually commit less crimes than U.S. citizens, they bring a huge boost to the economy, and they are mostly just here to create a better life for themselves. Politicians often lie and say that huge amounts of tax money are going to undocumented immigrants, but if you go check the data it’s all made up. Undocumented immigrants don’t have social security numbers, so while they can fill out ITINs to get jobs and pay taxes in many instances, they aren’t able to enroll in the major federal programs like Medicare or Social Security or anything like that.
I strongly support protecting everyone’s rights as established by the Constitution, regardless of their legal status, how they may identify, or anything of the sort. I would also vote against any bill that tries to prevent or limit access to a woman’s right to an abortion.
Finally, I am in full support of ending our U.S. tax dollars funding Israel in the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Palestine and counting. Imagine if one of the innocent people killed in Gaza was one of your family members? This should not be a controversial issue.
While my strategy for winning the election is not about raising a huge amount of money for advertising, I do need to have at least some money to get things started. I hope to largely self-fund my campaign, but I figured I’d create a page if anyone would like to donate to speed things along! I mainly plan to spend the money on creating campaign signs so people can see that I’m running for Congress and can become interested in going out to vote to support this campaign. Any of the current people in Congress or the federal government (mostly corrupt and useless representatives like Donald Trump / Pete Stauber who represent themselves and big companies instead of you) would laugh at this, but I think my goal of $5000 will let me be able to buy enough campaign signs, which I plan to put along highways all over northern and central Minnesota, to get the campaign noticed and get on the right track to winning the primary (August 2026) and moving on to the general election in November 2026.
If anyone has any questions on how I would vote on a certain issue, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your attention to this campaign, and I would be honored to have your support!
