Hello my name is Vanesa and just over 24 hours ago, my little baby has passed away in my arms. Over the last 5 days it has been nothing but emergency vet visits and overnight stays. Unfortunately vet care for senior dogs is extremely expensive without insurance, and I did not have it as she was 16 years old. All of those visits, medications and the cremation totalled up to £1,191.02 in just 5 days. Just on Saturday she was still a happy, cheer full dog as she always has been until everything took for the worse the next day, and gradually she just began to suffer. After her last emergency night visit, we took her back home, she seemed fine, for the first 2 hours until she became extremely delirious, pacing around the room, walking into everything. I tried comforting her to sleep for the next 9 hours until 7am when she started experiencing agonal breaths, meaning she was nearing the end. We rushed her limp body to the emergency vet for the last time before they told us we had to make a choice. They do CPR knowing she wouldn't get better and she suffers for however long she would of lived for after or we helped her pass. I didn't want my sweet baby to suffer anymore the way she had been the past few days. So we decided to let her rest finally. It was an extremely traumatic experience for me, seeing her in such ways. It was an extremely sudden death and very hard to deal with. I have had her since I was 10 years old I am now 26, and I cannot imagine my life without my little baby. I no longer have a routine or feel like I have a purpose anymore. She was such a sweet little girl with everybody, polite and gentle. Loved a cuddle and walkies. I am currently unemployed and have all of these outstanding vet bills. Thank you for reading.
