Our sweet dog Layla is currently hospitalized at an emergency vet receiving treatment for a severe liver infection. She has been having issues since April but 2 weeks ago she started to take a turn for the worse. After being on 3 sets of antibiotics for a week she showed no signs of improvement so after many more vet visits, we took her back to the emergency vet where she has been since Friday, October October 3rd. Her liver, pancreas, spleen, and kidneys were all swollen and she is unable to eat. She also developed a 105° temperature, forcing us to consider the hardest possibility that she wouldn’t make it.. we asked the vet for a Hail Mary steroid treatment to see if that would help and thank god it has! Her fever is completely gone as of today and we are really hoping that this is the beginning of her recovery ❤️ This does however, mean more nights inpatient at the emergency vet and more bills unfortunately. We are a military family and I myself am being furloughed due to the government shutdown, stopping all of our income. Her current stay, emergency visits, diagnostics, and medications have stretched our finances thin. We’ve used most of our savings, making it difficult to be able to live off savings for the duration of the shutdown while paying bills, mortgage, and for groceries. Each night inpatient costs about $1000 and every extra night we can afford increases her chances substantially. We appreciate any help with this and will post updates on how she is doing and when she is able to come home! Thank you for reading this far and for all support ❤️
