On September 9, 2025, our 13-year-old nephew Joshua Zepeda suffered a sudden, life-threatening medical emergency. After several critical surgeries, he miraculously survived and is now fighting his way back in intensive care.

Joshua will need extensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy to relearn basic skills like walking, talking, and eating. We are raising funds to help cover these medical expenses and support his long road to recovery.

Hello, my name is Vilma, and I’ve created this GoFundMe on behalf of my 13-year-old nephew, Joshua Zepeda, and his family: Abi (mom and my sister), Luis (dad), Luisito (brother), and Eliana (sister).

What Happened

On the morning of September 9, 2025, life changed in an instant. Joshua’s dad woke him up for school while his mom made his favorite breakfast—pancakes. Suddenly, Joshua complained of a severe headache. Within minutes, his condition became critical, and he was rushed to the hospital.

Doctors confirmed that Joshua suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm which resulted in a severe hemorrhage. The odds of survival were stacked against him (33% don’t make it to the hospital and those that do 33% don’t make it out). Doctors did not know if he would even make through the transfer to a more specialized hospital. We are humbled by God’s grace that Joshua is alive today.

Where Joshua Is Now

Joshua has already endured multiple brain surgeries and remains in intensive care. Each day brings small but powerful signs of healing. His doctors are now hopeful that, with time and therapy, Joshua will be able to regain the skills he has lost.

Why We Need Your Help

Joshua will need long-term specialized care, including:

• Speech therapy
