Help paying for Jinkx’s vet bill

Donation protected

UPDATE (Monday) : our girl is a fighter and she’s showing signs of improvement! Her blood pressure is normalizing, there no longer appears to be blood in her stool (this is huge!), and today, (after an hour of coaxing), I finally got her to eat some food out of my hand. We sat together in a private room at the vets, cuddling and telling her about all the love and support she’s receiving! I have no doubt she is feeling the love! She even showed a little sass refusing to go back to her kennel, by returning to her blanket nest in the room. But let’s be real, who would want to leave the arms of their loved one to return to the kennel?

The fact is we’d love nothing more than to bring her home, but not before she can having a fighting chance at a full recovery. Because she’s still having regular diarrhea (less volume than before, but still happening), she’s still at risk of severe dehydration w/o regular IV fluids. And of course we’d like to see her appetite improve. She’s still at the vet, but as of now it looks like we’ll have to bring her home tonight, even if it’s not preferred. please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. She’s not out of the woods yet. And we greatly appreciate your support.

Update (Sunday): Jinkx is still passing blood, her blood pressure is high, and red blood cell count is not good. She’s still not eating. They indicated that this is not uncommon for this condition (AHDS), they say the first 24-48 hours is the most intensive. They are still indicating she could recover, but believe her best chance is staying another 24 hours in their care. Jinkx hasn’t given up. The doc says she’s in good spirits, and she wags her tail. Unfortunately we tapped out all of our resources for the first 24 hours. The estimate they gave us to keep her under their care is annother $2,000! I was able to use the moneys already donated to keep her another twelve hours. I’m hoping we can come up with more s they can keep her a full 24, giving her a fighting chance at recovery. She’s our baby, we can’t imagine giving up on her, while she’s still fighting.

UPDATE (Saturday): We just heard from the vet. She’s still not eating, but she’s responding well to treatment! She was even wagging her tail, which is a great sign! We are hoping she will be well enough to come home tomorrow. I’ll keep you all posted!

I’m notoriously bad at accepting or asking for help. I’m learning that being “fiercely independent” isn’t a strength, but a trauma response.

Jinkx is more than just a fur-baby. She’s part of our family. When we woke up this morning to her blood all over the floor, bringing her to the vet was the only option. And boy am I grateful I did! Turns out she has Acute Hemorrhagic Diarrhea Syndrome, and without treatment she very well could have died. Even with treatment there is no guarantee, but it does give her a fighting chance. The treatment requires hospitalization which is quite costly, and as a result creating considerable debt.

I’m humbly asking that if you have the means and care to contribute towards her care, any amount you can spare would be much appreciated.
