Help pay for Jess's functional septorhinoplasty

In 2021, my partner Jess, sought medical intervention to address her breathing problems caused by breaking her nose as a child, never foreseeing the arduous journey ahead. Under OHIP coverage, she underwent a functional septorhinoplasty, which, instead of helping, left her in a worse-off state. In a rare and unfortunate turn of events, she suffered from uvular necrosis, an uncommon surgical side effect that not only sent her to the hospital but left her unable to eat or drink while recovering from the nasal surgery. The ordeal, as you can imagine, has been traumatizing for her.

Jess waited for several months, as instructed by her doctor, hoping her breathing might improve. When it didn't, she sought a second opinion. After a year-long wait, she was able to consult with a well-regarded surgeon who concluded that another functional septorhinoplasty with an ear or rib graft was needed to correct the earlier surgical missteps.

Jess was presented with two options: endure a four-year wait for the corrective surgery under OHIP with slim chances for the condition being permanently fixed or opt for immediate treatment at a private clinic for a hefty $12,000 CAD but with much better chances of a permanent solution to her breathing difficulties. Jess and I managed to save up $7,000 CAD towards the cost of her surgery. However, she is still $5,000 CAD short, with neither her family able to assist financially nor OHIP offering coverage for the private clinic.
Jess just wants to get her normal life back, to enjoy a simple jog without feeling winded or to wake up without headaches caused by her restricted breathing. The constant struggle to breathe has left her fatigued, frustrated, and has significantly impacted her quality of life.

As a full-time student, Jess relies on her OSAP loans to cover her school expenses, leaving her with no spare income to address her pressing health issues.
We're reaching out to you with utmost humility and respect for your consideration to help. Any contribution, regardless of its size, will be immensely appreciated. We sincerely thank you for taking the time to learn about Jess's predicament, and we humbly appeal to you to help us crowdfund for her essential surgery. This operation is not just about correcting a medical issue; it's about giving Jess the chance to live life fully again. Thank you.
