Pay for Earl's Medicine

Hi, my name is Amanda and I am fundraising for a sweet and giving man named Earl. To know Earl is to love him.
Below is his story in his own words…

I was recently diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (irregularity of my heartbeat), and I’m very grateful that I know that I have it now, instead of finding out by surprise later.

My cardiologist prescribed Eliquis, a blood thinner, which will lessen the likelihood of blood clots, heart attack or a stroke. I haven’t had any of those things, although I do have a family history of them. He graciously gave me a month’s worth of samples which i will have finished by the time you read this.

I’m also wearing a heart monitor for 30 days, and by the time you read this, I will have a week and a half left, and I’ll turn it back to the Dr’s office.

Eliquis costs about $550.00 a month. I sent out a text message to several friends, asking them to pray for a part-time job that would cover the cost. I heard back from one of my friends who owns a roller skating center, offering me a part-time job working with children after school when school is in session Monday - Friday, which I gratefully accepted!

I have been volunteering to work with children in the communities in which I’ve lived for decades (I’m 70 now) through organizations, schools and churches, and I still do, so the part-time opportunity is a special gift.

I also have a friend who responded to the text, and told me that she and her husband wanted to give me the cost of the first month of my prescription, which totally floored me! I gratefully accepted, and had it filled by my pharmacy last week, and I’ll begin using it by the time you read this.

I have applied to Medicare Part D insurance, and have been accepted. It reduces the cost to me to $70.10/month, until some time in the fall of each year when it goes up to $185.00/month, because of something called a “doughnut,” then when the “doughnut hole” is filled, it goes back to the lower amount.

There are many, many opportunities to help many, many causes, organizations, and people. If you feel led to help with my medicine, please know that I will be grateful; please also know that I will be just as grateful for your generosity given to other people, causes, or organizations which you choose.

Your generosity - in whichever direction you send it - will make a difference in the world, and because of that, it will make a difference in the lives of all of us living in the world, too.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story!

Blessings abounding to you, always -
Earl
