Hello, my name is Jerica and those you who don’t know my dad Wilfredo Rivera he is a hard working truck driver 20 plus years. He loves to work on his own, and other peoples cars on his free time when he isn’t “off saving the world” behind the wheel. Haha which is what my dad would always say. He was one of many truck drivers during COVID that delivered medical supplies to hospitals in NYC. He’s a father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. Recently his life has taken a turn. He was hospitalized in the beginning of the month of September because of a high fever. During his time at the hospital they discovered a mass in his pancreas, so they performed a procedure called “The Whipple Procedure” to remove the mass, He has made an amazing start on his recovery journey at home. Unfortunately the news came that he has Stage 3 Ampulla Cancer. My dad has been out of work since he’s been hospitalized and his job will no longer offer him insurance since he is not working. With him not having insurance he will have to pay out of pocket for his treatment. The past month has been a lot for my dad and my family. He is the sole provider in the household and the expense of his treatment is something that is a financial struggle. The money donated will be used to pay for his chemotherapy treatments since his insurance company will not cover them. My dad does a lot for the people he cares about, and seeing him in a time of need I would like to take some of the stress off his back so it could be one less thing to worry about.
