Pay Down Eviction Notice
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Leigha, and my husband James and I have just received a notice of intent to evict.
We have 9 days from today (11/22/23) to pay the full balance or eviction action will go forward.
We had been paying our back rent off and catching up - clearing the back balance month by month and a bit more - after my hospitalization and resultant leave last year put us in the hole, but my husband lost his job in August and suddenly we weren't able to keep making the large bi-weekly payments we had been. We were still putting everything we could towards it, but unemployment is minimal and it cut in half what we were able to pay back every other week.
My husband has just gotten a new job and we have begun paying larger amounts again, but dates roll on and we just weren't able to get that trailing edge of the back rent cleared before steps were taken by the landlord to begin this process.
We just want to keep our home. This place has become important to us, our first apartment on our own as a married couple, and we don't want to be forced out. We're afraid of what would happen to us without this place. While my husband has a job that takes him outside the home, I do not. My position is strictly work-from-home and if we are evicted I will not be able to work at all, which will only complicate matters further.
Please, anything you can do to help is deeply appreciated. We just want to get back in good standing with our landlord and be able to keep our home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this today, and I hope you all have a peaceful holiday season.
