PEOPLE is a new dance work set entirely to live vocals of Barbra Streisand’s music. This performance inhabits the emotional architecture of Streisand’s voice—its ache, its defiance, its unapologetic grandeur. Rather than illustrating the songs, the choreography listens to them: responding to breath, phrasing, and the raw theatricality that has made Streisand an icon across generations.

The dancers move through landscapes of longing, ambition, vulnerability, and self-mythologizing, tracing how desire and power live in the body. Live vocal performance transforms the stage into a shared act of risk and devotion, collapsing the distance between concert, cabaret, and contemporary dance. The familiar becomes strange; the beloved becomes newly physical.

Rooted in feminist lineage and cultural memory, the work treats Streisand not as nostalgia, but as source material—an archive of feeling, survival, and richness. Her music becomes a vessel for exploring identity, spectacle, and the radical act of taking up space. At once intimate and expansive, the piece asks what it means to move inside a voice that has taught so many how to want more, feel louder, and refuse to shrink.
