Help the Carreño family with prayers and med costs
Donation protected
Just days after the birth of their fourth child (Sofia) our dear friend Bea returned to the hospital with breathing complications. There they drew nearly four liters of fluid from her lungs, and subsequent examinations revealed several large tumors on her left lung. For the past two weeks, Bea, Javier, and little Sofia have been staying at a specialized pulmonary clinic in Krems, Austria.
A few days ago — still less than two weeks postpartum — they received the devastating news that Bea has a rare and incurable form of lung cancer, already progressed to stage 4A. Barring a miracle, the only medical hope is to slow its progression. Today, 1 July, they attempted to surgically remove the source of the fluid in her lungs. If no more fluid builds up in the coming days, she will be able to return home with palliative care.
Needless to say, what the Carreño family now needs most are prayers and Masses offered for strength, peace, and complete healing – or at the very least, that the treatment would be effective in slowing down disease progression.
Beyond that, our hope is to raise funds to allow Javier to stay home as much as possible to provide hands-on care for Bea, newborn Sofia, their 2 year-old Mirjam, and be present to their older children Lina (12) and Dani (16), as they navigate this trial together as a family. As it stands, especially without Bea’s income, the family will experience great financial hardship covering the myriad costs attendant to a sudden medical crisis. We hope, together with you, to alleviate the financial burden as much as we can, and to bring peace in this domain so that they are free to focus on the truly important things.
We are sincerely grateful and appreciative of your care, works of mercy, and support, both spiritual and monetary. Vergelt’s Gott.
