Since early May, our mother, Gail Rhein, has been hospitalized (in CCU and ICU) with what appeared to be a rare blood disease. Mom is the head of our household, so my sister and I have been struggling to cover household bills until she is well enough to be discharged. We are not making ends meet.
Now the doctors have begun treating her condition as a form of Pre-Leukemia. Even if these treatments are successful, her path home is likely to be via a stay at a sub-acute rehabilitation facility. I’m trying to support my family for as long as necessary. But for that to happen, I need some financial assistance, especially given the specter of mounting medical bills.
Many of you will have met mom through her numerous community service outreach activities, or through her Scouting volunteer work over the last 12+ years. Some of you may have met her while she was working as an EMT.
We want her to have our household to return to when she recovers. We are also keenly aware that her physical recovery is intertwined with her mental/emotional health and don’t want her to be preoccupied about not being here for us. We are trying to keep the bills in check so she can focus her energies on healing, which is why we have started this gofundme.
Whether or not you can help, I thank you for reading. Please keep our mom in your thoughts and I hope you have a great day.
