Paxton’s heart can be healed- We just need help

Hi, my name is Dionna, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a plea to help save my beloved Great Dane, Paxton.
Paxton will be 2 years old this September. He’s my gentle giant—goofy, loving, and full of personality. In February, our world turned upside down when he began having trouble breathing. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where we were told he had a dangerous amount of fluid around his heart. The doctors didn’t think he would survive the night. Thankfully, I trusted my instincts and brought him in when I did—they were able to remove 150ml of fluid and save his life that night.
Since then, Paxton has endured countless tests, exams, and monthly visits to the cardiologist as we try to uncover the root cause of this condition. Some appointments have brought us hope, others heartbreak. Recently, he was hospitalized again due to gastritis caused by the steroids he had been on, and we came devastatingly close to saying goodbye.
Today, we found out that the fluid around his heart has returned, despite changing his medications. His cardiologist now recommends life-saving pericardial effusion surgery. It’s his best chance—possibly his only chance—at a future.
The cost of this surgery is between $7,000 and $8,000. We’ve already exhausted our CareCredit, tried for a line increase, and used every available option we have. I never imagined being in a position where I’d have to ask for help like this, but here I am, humbly and desperately asking.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us. And if you’re not able to give, sharing this page with others could make all the difference.
Paxton is so young, and he still has so much life and love to give. I want to fight for him the way he’s fought through every challenge. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for considering helping us during this impossible time.
