Paxton and Penny are the heart of our family, and right now, they both need a little extra help. Both of them came into our lives through San Francisco Animal Care & Control (SFACC). We adopted Paxton as a puppy back in December 2018, and Penny joined our family from SFACC in July 2025. Recently, Paxton was diagnosed with a mast-cell tumor. He is scheduled for surgery on May 20th, which will help us determine how serious the situation is and what the next steps will be. At the same time, Penny was diagnosed with a heart murmur and needs a thorough heart workup to find out what’s causing it. On top of that, Penny has chronic pododermatitis—a painful paw condition that isn’t covered by insurance because it’s considered preexisting.
We’re grateful to have insurance that covers 80% of their medical expenses, but only up to a certain limit each year. Unfortunately, we’re quickly approaching that cap, and the out-of-pocket costs for both Paxton’s surgery and Penny’s heart workup are adding up fast. We’re also facing ongoing expenses to help manage Penny’s pododermatitis and keep her comfortable.
We’re reaching out for help to cover these unexpected costs so Paxton and Penny can get the care and answers they need to continue living happy and healthy lives. These dogs are our world, and any support would mean so much to us as we navigate these challenges. Thank you for considering a donation to help Paxton and Penny.
