We’re Ajit and Andrew, and we’re finally starting a new chapter together after years of long-distance love between the United States and Australia. After countless video calls, months of planning, and more immigration paperwork than we care to remember, Andrew is officially making the big move to the U.S.—and we’re bringing our whole family together, paws and all.
He’s packing up everything—taxi boxes, gym equipment, and a lifetime of Aussie memories.
But the real stars of this journey?
The ones we absolutely can’t leave behind?
His dog and cat.
These two adorable, slightly dramatic, and deeply loved animals are more than pets—they’re family.
The only problem? They don’t fly coach.
Shipping pets internationally is shockingly expensive. Like, “your dog is flying more luxuriously than you ever will” expensive. We’re talking close to $9,500 for safe transport, vet checks, and all the paperwork needed to keep their paws above board.
Here’s a breakdown of the costs:
Pre-flight Vet Exams & Vaccinations: $1,000
Crate & Comfort Prep: $500
Government Paperwork, Permits & Export Certificates: $850
Pet Transport Agency (handling, routing, customs, and door-to-door service): $5,500
Quarantine/Boarding (if required): $1,000
Post-arrival Vet Check & Travel from Airport: $600
We’re doing everything we can to make this happen ourselves, but we’ve realized we may need some help from the amazing people in our lives (and some generous strangers with big hearts for animals). Every dollar brings us closer to keeping our little fur-family together—and every share helps us reach others who might want to help, too.
Whether you’re giving $5 or just giving this post a boost, we are deeply grateful.
If you’ve ever loved a pet like family, you get it.
We can’t wait to all be under the same roof.
If we’re lucky enough to raise more than the goal, any extra funds will go directly toward helping Tilly and Bastet settle into their new life in the U.S. That includes things like vet follow-ups, cozy beds, food, and maybe even a few celebratory treats and toys to help them feel right at home.
And of course, if there are any major leftover funds after all pet-related costs are fully covered, we’ll donate them to a local animal rescue or shelter—so other pets can get their second chance, too.
Thank you for helping us bring them home.
With love and laughter,
Ajit, Andrew, Tilly & Bastet
