Pawsitive Pathways
Donation protected
Fellow dog lovers,
We are both honored and excited to tell you about an important program helping homeless dogs all over rural Colorado. Our Pawsitive Pathways Program began in May of this year, and in just 8 months, we have successfully placed 18 dogs in their forever homes. The dogs that need us most are those who come from rural, underserved and often over-filled Colorado shelters and rescues. These rural animal control personnel typically have little to no funding and minimal support from their municipalities which leads to over-population and consequently a high percentage of euthanasia. Pawsitive Pathways was created to aid dogs in these situations specifically.
After being picked up from their current shelter environment they are transported to live with their new caretaker/trainer, Brandie and her family in rural Southeastern Colorado.
A dog’s average length of stay in the Pawsitive Pathways Program is 4 to 6 weeks (or however long it takes to find their perfect new home). We love frequently getting updates, videos and photos of them thriving in their new lives.
The average cost per dog from program start to finish is $1,000. This encompasses all transportation, countless hours of training and socialization, veterinary care when needed, food, treats, toys, bedding, enrichment activities, a leash, etc.
Our program runs strictly on donations, both monetary and for supplies, plus a small adoption fee of $350 that we ask of the new owners upon adoption. Our current goal is to raise $3,000 before Christmas. We have had some amazing donor thus far and are so close to our goal.
Are you able to help? The generosity and support of fellow dog lovers like you can directly impact the lives of so many rural Colorado dogs in need. Even just $50 would provide food for one dog for an entire week! With 18 dogs saved and counting, we know there are many more in the forgotten corners of rural Colorado who still need our help.
