Our Mission

In Sofia, Bulgaria, the municipal dog shelter is overcrowded and underfunded. Sick and injured dogs often go without proper treatment or warmth. Volunteers do their best, but the system is failing these animals.

Paws & Hearts rescues the most urgent cases from the shelter, gets them immediate veterinary care, and places them in safe foster homes — until they recover and find a loving family.

Across Bulgaria’s abandoned villages, many elderly people live entirely alone on tiny pensions. They have no family, no visitors — and no companionship.

We carefully match rescued dogs with lonely seniors who love animals. We cover all costs (food, vet care, medicines) and provide a small monthly allowance as a thank-you for giving the animal a home and love.

One donation changes two lives:

A dog gets safety, care, and dignity.

A senior gets companionship, purpose, and the knowledge that they matter.
