Paws for Peachtree City
I would like to introduce you to the newest member of the PTC Police Department, Artush (Artoosh). He and his new handler started class yesterday in Alabama!
AMAZING NEWS! We have had a local business step forward and offer to fund the rest of our campaign. We are not at liberty to say who the business is at this time. Be assured, we will update and let everyone know when that information is revealed.
Thank you to everyone for contributing and getting the word out by sharing this page. What a tremendous result to show our communities support for our police department.

On August 18, 2016, one of our two police dogs, K-9 Officer Maik, was retired. Maik had been a member of the PTCPD for 9 years and was expected to have more years of service. Unfortunately, at his last check up, it was determined that he would have to be retired. It was unexpected. As such, there are no funds for his replacement in the current city budget. Working through the budgeting process, the city will not be able to replace Maik until 2018 at the earliest.
The breed of dog that we use in Peachtree City is the Belgian Malinois. The dogs are trained in apprehension, illegal drug detection and tracking. We still have Maik’s patrol vehicle and service vest (two of the larger expenses aside from the dog). A new police dog and the training for their handler will cost the city $17,000.
A group of concerned citizens has come together to raise the funds to buy the city a replacement dog. If we are successful, we could have a new dog in service as soon as early 2017.
