Paws for Ansley and Addie

Edited: Paws for Ansley was created by friends and members of the James Family as benefit to raise funding for our daughters’ service dogs.
Our youngest Daughter Ansley was recently diagnosed with moderate autism at age 3. An individual’s autism is like their fingerprint with each person having their own unique characteristics. To help our daughter in her journey at such a young age, we decided it was best to have extra help through a service dog who is trained to intervene for Ansley with calming and soothing actions to help prevent self-harm. Through chance events, our family has been fortunate to meet Luke, a re-purposed, big-hearted, loving poodle who has shown a perfect fit to meet the needs for Ansley and has agreed to take on the responsibility to become another member of our family.
Fast-forward a few months to when our oldest daughter Addison was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Addie, who is now 8 years old is no stranger to diabetes as she has grown up in her mom’s shadow, another member of the Type 1 family. Addie is now an independent young lady who has embraced her new lifestyle. Through this journey our second service pup Lola, another beautiful and big-hearted poodle, who was originally intended for Ansley has shown the right characteristics to become a blood sugar detection superhero in the needs of our daughter. Lola will be journeying with Addie to school in the coming future and is being specifically trained to detect and alert for spikes and extreme drops in her blood sugar.
We have been absolutely blessed to have both of these service Animals become part of the James Pack. These dogs are currently in training to acquire their super-hero senses that can be a potential life saver for our daughter. Through this benefit we are trying to help in raising funds needed for the very in-depth and intensive training that these dogs will require as service animals.
As of right now our goal is to raise $7000.00 which will cover the remainder of the training fees needed for Luke and Lola. As with any parent, our daughters are our world and we want the best for them in growing up and adapting into brand new lifestyles. We would be honored to have your help in the journeys of both of our daughters and greatly appreciate any and every contribution to be made no matter how big or small.
With all the love, Thank you!

Meet Ansley Grace, Ansley will be 3 in July. Ansley was a typical toddler until about 18 months old. At 18 months old she began to regress, self harm, lost her vocabulary and fell behind in most areas. At first we just assumed she was just taking her time and would come around and catch back up. Ansley started speech therapy and occupational therapy at 2. We kept hope this would only be needed for a few months and our sweet girl would not need therapy anymore. After a few therapy sessions we realized something more was wrong. Ansley went thru autism testing and was diagnosed with severe to moderate autism. We have a candidate who we would like be a service dog for Ansley. This dog (Oliver) will be trained to notice ques to stop self harm, give her deep pressure when needed, and help stop her from running into dangerous situations among other helpful task. A fully trained service dog ranges from $8,000 to $10,000. We ask that you consider donating to our precious girl so she can live the best life possible! If you are unable to donate please share!
