Paws for a second and take a look
I am raising money for the Essex Retired Police Dogs Fund.
I have been a founding supporter of the fund from its infancy with my first Retired Essex Police Dog Quincy.
The fund was established in 2012. At the time of publishing this, they have helped 65 Retired Police Dogs, some just the once and others up to 35 times. The money raised goes towards vet and welfare costs. Over £94,000 to these exceptional dogs to date.
I am privileged to have been the custodian of two retired Essex Police Dogs. Often nick named ‘Land Sharks’ my insurance options were limited but I was able to insure both of them.
The fund supported me when it was Quincy’s time to walk the rainbow bridge. The committee members have all been dog owners and the emotional support offered was of equal value to me as the finance forwarded to help him on his way. A cost that is not covered by many insurance policy’s.
Retired Police Dog Frankie became my husband's shadow and I attended several fund raising events, for the fund, with her by my side. Three years in a row she could be found in the month of September in the ERPDF annual calendar. She enjoyed four active years of retirement before cancer took her from us. The fund supported us with some of the vet bills and also helped her to join Quincy at the end of the rainbow bridge.
Now I am a month away from taking on my third Retired Essex Police Dog and I need your help to raise some much needed funds to ensure that ERPDF can assist many more of these exceptional dogs.
From 9th July 2025 to 13th July 2025 I plan to walk The Essex Way. This is 82 miles, split over 5 days, walking from Epping to Harwich. This will definitely be challenging with some of the stages being 19 miles. I am used to walking but never so far on consecutive days. I hope to be joined by friends and family and some four legged friends, if the weather allows, along the way.
The thought that every step will be raising money for a great cause will help boost my motivation when the times get tough. I am in no doubt there will be a few.
Please give me your support and help me reach my target of £2,000 by the time I finish the 82nd mile.
