Pavilion for West House Personal Care Home

Tax deductible
For more than a decade, West House, an 18 bed non-profit personal care home in Williamsport, PA, has welcomed residents without discriminating, accepting even those unable to pay. Because of this, we rely on the generosity of others-local high school and college students who spend time with the residents, visits from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, donations from local businesses and other caring members of our extended community, and so on. Our residents range in age from 25 - 80.  Although some have family and friends who visit, for others, West House is all they've got. We're proud-very proud-of what we offer.

The West House volunteer board of directors is seeking donations to help us build a 12 x 14 ft. pavilion from a kit that we would like to purchase from Lowe's. As you see in the photo, all we currently have is an umbrella big enough to provide shade for one person. NOW, MORE THAN EVER, OUR RESIDENTS NEED FRESH AIR. With the cold weather soon coming, we want them to be able to get that fresh air with a roof over their heads.

Andrew Kilpatrick, one of our board members, reached out to his friend Rob Cooley, who is an Associate Professor of Anthropology / Environmental Science at The Pennsylvania College of Technology (Go Wildcats!) and asked if he could connect with colleagues in the construction program to see if there were any students who would be interested in helping with the construction of the pavilion. Within a matter of hours, Penn College construction faculty had connected two of their students, members of the PCT Construction Management Association, with West House to make this dream a reality. It will be a wonderful partnership- West House residents love when college students drop by, and the students will gain hands-on, real-world experience applying their skills in real life for a terrific cause. It will be awesome to see the joy when the residents learn that the students will be constructing a pavilion for them!

Times are tough. We all continue to be impacted by covid-19. We would not be asking if we did not believe in the good work being done at West House. Our residents need a win right now-something that reminds them that they are not forgotten, and that better days are on the horizon. Thanks to PCT's amazing students, we're ready to give them that win...but we need you to chip in, please.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION AND GENEROSITY. The residents, staff, administrator, and board of directors of West House are truly grateful.
