My name is Ruth Hale, I am a single working mom with one daughter, Patricia, a junior in college and a son, Paul, a 2017 graduate of Boyd High School in McKinney, Texas. Paul has been offered the most wonderful opportunity to study in England and play soccer (football) at St. John’s University, a public Univeristy in York, England for the next three years 2017- 2020. The path leading Paul to this juncture in his life has been filled with tears, faith, prayers and dedication.
On March 9th, 2014, my son, Paul Siedler dislocated his left patella for the first time of 3 times. Each injury occurred when he was playing soccer. The last time was on a rainy evening on February 19, 2015 in Allen, Texas. Through his tears he told me that his dream of playing soccer and becoming a coach was over. Through prayer and patience, we were extremely blessed to find a surgeon that specializes in patellar instability and Paul became a candidate in a national study for a new type of reconstructive knee surgery. What we didn’t know at the time was that he would be unable to play soccer for 15 months!!
The injury forced Paul to be focused, disciplined and driven. After 15 months of strenuous physical therapy Paul was in better shape than he was before his injuries and surgery, making him a better player, athlete, and a better person!
In October 2016 after being spotted at the Adidas College ID Camp in Pennsylvania Paul was invited to tryout for the i2i International Soccer Academy at St. John’s University in York, England. At the end of the two weeks the coaches offered Paul a starting position on the Academy team. It was a dream come true! The beauty of the program is the combination of soccer (football) and education. During his three years at St. John’s, Paul will pursue a degree in International Business Management. This step in his life will hopefully help him achieve his dream of becoming a professional soccer (football) player.
On my teacher’s salary, I am unable to finance all of Paul’s education that’s why we need your help and support. Thank you!
